It’s time for the Holiday Spectacular at the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club

Call it the future members of the Stars on Ice cast. Or you can call it by its real name: Holiday Spectacular.

On Dec. 15, the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club will display their talents in an ice show at West Edmonton Mall in front of an anticipated audience of 450. Shoppers are invited to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas rush and take in the 115 skaters who will take to the ice.

When the show starts at 1:00pm, be ready for an impressive line-up.

Fresh off a win at Skate Canada Challenge in Regina, Kaetlyn Osmond headlines the Holiday Spectacular. At 17 years old, Osmond is already the 2012 Senior Canadian Bronze Medallist, 2012 Skate Canada Champion and 2012 Nebelhorn Trophy winner. She’ll aim the top spot of the podium next month at the Canadians in Mississauga. Osmond will be on hand to sign autographs at Thomas Sabo in West Edmonton Mall from 3:00-3:30pm.

Two pairs team will perform in the Holiday Spectacular: Taylor LeClaire and Christopher Mostert, and Kendra Digness and Eric Thiessen. Both teams are advancing to the Canadian Figure Skating Championships after qualifying at Skate Canada Challenge. LeClaire and Mostert will also compete in singles at Canadians in their respective disciplines, Novice and Junior.

After the Alberta-NWT/Nunavut Sectionals, the Ice Palace FSC can boast several champions and successful skaters. LeClaire takes to the ice as Novice champion; Ceduna Magee skates at the Junior Woman level; Christopher Mostert is the Junior Men champion, and Jane Gray is the Senior Women Champion.

Senior, Junior, Intermediate and CanSkate will skate groups will perform numbers to display their skills and talents.

Passing tests, winning medals and earning badges takes work and effort is no small feat for the skaters, aged five to 20. They need the support and encouragement from parents, coaches, and most importantly, the community.
